The Cordillera Administrative Region, or CAR, is the mountain heartland of northern Luzon. It covers six provinces: Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga and Mountain Province, with Baguio City as the regional centre. It is home to cool highland towns, rice terraces carved into the hills and some of the most distinctive culture in the country.
