CALABARZON, also known as Region IV-A, sits just south and east of Manila and is the closest region for weekend escapes. The name comes from its five provinces: Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon, with Calamba in Laguna as the regional centre. Expect volcanoes, waterfalls, hill towns and beaches within a couple of hours of the capital.
