Paoay is a town in Ilocos Norte. There is not a lot here, but it is a good stop on a North Luzon road trip. The drive is long, and a couple of landmarks along the highway help to break it up.
The famous old church dates back a few hundred years. It is a grand old building, and it is worth a look inside. It is also known as San Agustin Church.
The Malacañang of the North is the old presidential palace of Marcos. We went in for a look around. There is a nice lake around the back, and the whole place is full of beautiful old buildings.
Keep Paoay on your itinerary as a break between Vigan and Pagudpud. You only need a couple of hours here, so do not plan more than that.
