Central Luzon, also known as Region III, is the broad plain north of Manila, and it is where many Manila weekends begin. It covers seven provinces: Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales, with San Fernando in Pampanga as the regional centre. Within a few hours of the capital you can swim off a Zambales beach, trek into the Mount Pinatubo crater, or explore the caves and trails of Biak Na Bato in Bulacan.
