Terrazas de Punta Fuego: A Beautiful Beach Escape Near Manila

Written by Dezza, 26 October 2026.

When people think about beach holidays in the Philippines, places like Boracay, El Nido and Coron usually come to mind. And fair enough, they’re fantastic destinations.

However, after living in the Philippines for more than 20 years, I’ve discovered that there are some pretty impressive places much closer to Manila.

One of them is Terrazas de Punta Fuego, a private beach club in Nasugbu, Batangas.

I first visited around 2010 and have been back several times since. I’ve got friends with membership connections in the area, so I’ve been fortunate enough to spend a few afternoons there.

And I can tell you, it’s a beautiful place.

A Hidden Gem Along the Batangas Coast

One of the interesting things about Terrazas de Punta Fuego is that you wouldn’t necessarily appreciate how beautiful it is just by passing it.

From the road, there’s a large boundary wall, and most of the resort is hidden from view. Even when you’re passing by on a boat, you don’t really get to appreciate the whole layout.

It’s only when you get inside that you realise how impressive the place actually is.

The resort is built into a hillside that slopes down towards the beach, with landscaped gardens, palm trees, cascading swimming pools and beachfront cabanas.

It’s got a bit of a Bali-style feel to it, particularly with the tropical landscaping and traditional huts scattered around the property.

The whole place is beautifully laid out, and the views across the ocean are fantastic.

The Beach Is One of the Best Features

I’ve spent plenty of time exploring the coastline around Nasugbu, including nearby beaches such as Tali Beach and Panutsutan Beach.

And I’d put the beach at Terrazas de Punta Fuego right up there with them.

The sand is clean and fine. It’s not the powdery white sand you’d find in Boracay, but it’s certainly a nice beach, and the water is great for swimming.

One thing worth mentioning is that Terrazas de Punta Fuego and Club Punta Fuego are two different places, although there are reciprocal rights between the two.

I’ve visited both, and while Club Punta Fuego has some fantastic facilities and ocean views, I’m not particularly impressed with its beach. It’s rocky in places, and you have to make your way down from the cliffs.

Terrazas, on the other hand, has a much nicer stretch of beach, with a more open coastal setting. If spending time on the sand and swimming in the ocean is your priority, I’d definitely choose Terrazas.

Swimming Pools, Cabanas and a Relaxed Atmosphere

Apart from the beach, one of the things I really like about Terrazas is the swimming pool area. The cascading pools, surrounded by tropical gardens and overlooking the ocean, are one of the highlights of the property.

There are also beachfront cabanas and traditional Filipino bahay kubo huts, some along the beach and others within the resort grounds. These are great places to spend an afternoon with family or friends. And that’s exactly what we’ve done on our visits.

We’d usually head over by boat, have something to eat, enjoy a few drinks, go for a swim and spend the afternoon relaxing. The food was good, and while I can’t remember the exact prices, it’s an upmarket private resort, so don’t expect everything to be cheap.

The atmosphere is very family-oriented, although I imagine weekends can get pretty lively when more people are visiting.

There are also water activities, including banana boat rides. I’ve seen jet skis cruising around the area, although you’d need to check which activities are currently available directly through the beach club.

Experience the Philippines Without Travelling Too Far

Something I’ve always tried to encourage through Deztreks is exploring places that aren’t necessarily on every tourist’s itinerary.

People spend thousands of dollars flying around the Philippines, booking hotels and arranging transfers to reach some of the country’s famous destinations.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. I’ve done plenty of it myself. However, there are also some beautiful places within a few hours of Manila. Terrazas de Punta Fuego is a perfect example.

You can spend the morning travelling down to Batangas, enjoy a fantastic afternoon by the beach and be back in Manila without having to book a flight. Of course, access to Terrazas is restricted, so it’s not somewhere you can simply turn up whenever you like.

Still, it demonstrates just how much the Batangas coastline has to offer. If you’d like more ideas nearby, have a look at my guide to the best places to visit in Batangas.

Can Anyone Visit Terrazas de Punta Fuego?

One thing worth knowing about the Nasugbu coastline is that quite a few of the beautiful resorts and beach clubs are actually private.

Places like Club Punta Fuego, Terrazas de Punta Fuego and Pico de Loro Beach & Country Club at Hamilo Coast all have membership or guest access restrictions. In other words, you can’t necessarily just turn up, pay an entrance fee and spend the day at the beach.

I’ve always visited Terrazas through friends with membership connections, which is how I’ve been able to enjoy the facilities over the years.

The arrangements vary between properties. At Terrazas and Club Punta Fuego, access is generally through club membership or an authorised guest endorsement. At Pico de Loro, you can also arrange certain stays through hotel or condominium bookings, although its exclusive Beach Club has separate membership restrictions.

So if you’re researching beaches around Nasugbu, make sure you check the access arrangements before heading down. Just because somewhere looks like a resort on Google Maps doesn’t mean it’s open to the general public.

There are other options, though. For example, Canyon Cove Hotel & Spa in Nasugbu offers public day passes, so you don’t necessarily need a membership connection to enjoy a resort beach in the area.

My advice? Do a little homework first. The last thing you want is to drive two or three hours from Manila only to discover you can’t get through the front gate.

How to Get to Terrazas de Punta Fuego

Terrazas de Punta Fuego is located in Barangay Natipuan, Nasugbu, Batangas.

From Metro Manila, allow approximately 2 to 3 hours by car, depending on where you’re travelling from and the traffic.

One option is to travel through Cavite, following the coastal route towards Ternate, through Kaybiang Tunnel and onwards to Nasugbu.

Another option is to take the South Luzon Expressway and travel through Tagaytay towards Nasugbu.

I’ve personally always arrived at Terrazas by boat while staying around the Maya-Maya area, so I can’t comment on the parking arrangements at the beach club.

Whichever way you travel, make sure your access has been arranged before heading down.

Final Thoughts

Is Terrazas de Punta Fuego worth visiting? Absolutely, provided you can arrange access. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit several times, and I’ve always enjoyed it.

It’s not necessarily somewhere I’d go looking for adventure. If I wanted to explore the coastline, discover secluded beaches or go island hopping, I’d probably spend the day out on a boat.

Terrazas is different.

It’s somewhere you go to settle in for the day. Find yourself a nice cabana, enjoy the beach, jump in the pool, have a decent lunch and maybe a few drinks while taking in the ocean views.

Sometimes that’s all you need.

And considering it’s only a couple of hours from Manila, it’s a pretty impressive place to spend an afternoon.

If you’ve got the opportunity to visit Terrazas de Punta Fuego, make a full day of it rather than rushing through for an hour or two.

The beach is one of its biggest attractions, particularly compared with the rockier coastline around Club Punta Fuego.

And if you’re planning a weekend around Nasugbu, consider exploring the nearby Tali and Maya-Maya coastline as well. There are some fantastic little beaches around there that many visitors to the Philippines never get to experience.
